Camp Fort Greene

Camp Fort Greene was founded to provide a high quality, low-cost summer experience for neighborhood children.

Founded and directed by Greeneprints Co-Executive Director Eisa Ulen Richardson, Camp Fort Greene is an award-winning, fully-licensed summer day camp. At Camp Fort Greene, counselors help young people reach their fullest potential in a warm, nurturing environment where children grow, discover, and, most importantly, play.  Camp Fort Greene recognizes children’s inherent sense of wonder, creativity, and thirst for knowledge. Counselors support our campers but encourage children to feel a certain bold confidence in their own abilities, as we know that, given the right tools for investigation and research, they are fully capable of figuring things out on their own. With annual science and arts-based curricular themes, sports programming, our Junior Park Rangers program in Fort Greene Park, and a literacy partnership with the Clinton Hill Library, Camp Fort Greene offers children opportunities for cognitive, social, and emotional growth all summer long.

Camp Fort Greene also honors the hazy, lazy, dream-like quality of July and August. We have a high regard and respect for daydreams. We value the fine art of spinning around and around until the spinner becomes dizzy and collapses in a heap of breathless giggles. We seek dandelions to pluck and blow into a summer breeze. We want our campers to know the wonder of friendship, enjoy the beauty of the natural world, and experience the magic of summer.

TECH FORT GREENE

We believe in empowering children with the tools they need to bring their imagination to life.

Founded and directed by Greeneprints Co-Executive Director Chloe Taylor, Tech Fort Greene is a fun and interactive technology day camp located in Fort Greene, Brooklyn. We believe in empowering children with the tools they need to bring their imagination to life. Tech Fort Greene campers will explore and experiment with circuits and 3D printing, program their own robots, and design their own short films using green screen technology. Our program aims to teach children the foundations of computational thinking through experimentation and discovery. Campers will have hands-on time with Little Bits circuits, Bee Bots and Lego Education software, and will learn the basics of Scratch, an introductory programming language.

There are many STEM programs in NYC, but our curriculum and approach are truly unique because we recognize that youth competence in technology derives from creative fun. When children work together in an easygoing community of active learners to construct operational devices inspired by their own imaginations, they gain aptitude and fluency in tech.

This successful program ran consecutively from 2015-2018.
